Goodwill Finds

I’ll admit, I’ve never been a fan of thrift shopping.  I’m not really a fan of shopping at all really.  I’m a person who goes in a store with a list, get what I need, and get out.  You wouldn’t normally find me digging around in bins of unorganized things looking for a bargain.  Yet, yesterday evening, in an effort to kill some time, my husband and I went into the new Goodwill store in a neighboring town.  I say it’s new.  Actually, it’s been open for at least a year or so.  I’ve passed by it 1,000 times.  We have donated to Goodwill several times.  I’ve just never really gone in.  I didn’t think I’d ever find anything I could use.
Well, that my friends, has changed.

This right here was worth going in the store.
If you have never seen this Muppet special, you are missing out.  There are so many Muppet Christmas shows on DVD and VHS out there.  However, this one has evaded me for many, may years.  I can remember watching this show at Christmas time at my grandmother’s house.  It is incredibly rare.  I’ve scoured Amazon, eBay, you name it.  If it’s there, it is extremely expensive.  The latest price I’ve seen was over $100.  Yep.  Too steep for me, no matter how much I wanted it.  How much did I pay for this, you ask?  A mere $.99.  Yep.  If I really wanted to, I could easily turn this around and sell this for a handsome profit.  I won’t though.  It is so awesome that I finally found it.  My husband thought I was nuts for getting so excited over a Muppet tape.  I can’t wait to show it to my boys!
And yes, we still use our VCR.  We have fancy DVD  and BlueRay players, but I see no point in throwing out perfectly good movies just to switch over to DVD.  So, we will use our VCR until all our tapes wear out.

Speaking of VHS tapes, I found four more for my boys to enjoy.  These were $.99 as well.  They had more, but they were more for girls.  These will go nicely in their little movie collection.  I see lots of movie nights in our immediate future.

Then I found some really nice books for $2.00 each.  These are really great.  They are hard cover and everything.
book 2
I love anything from Taste of Home.  I get the magazine whenever I come across a free or really cheap subscription.
book 3
This one looked really cute.  I’m always looking for new party and entertaining ideas.  I haven’t heard of the author, but I was skimming through it last night before bed.  I’m really enjoying it.

So, I have turned into a Goodwill shopper.  I’m excited to go back soon and see what else they have.  Goodwill is such a great organization, too, so I felt great about supporting them.
What have you found lately in your Goodwill store?  I’d love to hear about it!
