Feature Friday

Feature Friday

Today is Feature Friday.  On Fridays, I take a few minutes to share with you a few things I really enjoy.  Just a note, I only feature things I truly like.  It may be a favorite product I own, a cool blog or website, or just a favorite activity.  It’s just my way of featuring a few things that make my days a little brighter.  :)
I really enjoyed The Biblemini-series on the History Channel last month, and I recently learned that the soundtrackwas available.  I bought the the mp3version yesterday, and I have to tell you that I have listened to it no less than three or four times already.  It is amazing.  It is so uplifting, but different from what you would expect from inspirational music.  The Bible soundtrackwas composed by Hans Zimmer of The Gladiator and The Lion King fame.  This music brings tears to my eyes every time I listen to it.  I can not recommend it enough.

I discovered The Frugal Girl blog when I was searching for a reliable French bread recipe.  I spent several hours last weekend reading through it.  I feel like Kristen, the author of The Frugal Girl and I have a lot in common.  We both like saving money and repurposing things, and we also hold our families in high regard.  She also has a fun feature called “Food Waste Friday” where she provides pictures of food that has gone bad in her fridge and pantry.  It sounds odd, but I can see where it can help us be accountable to the amount of food we all waste.  It caused me to take a harder look at the odds and ends in my own fridge in a new way.  Check her out if you get a chance.

Leslie Sansonewalking workouts have become my new best friend.  One of my new year’s goals was to finally shed the last of my baby weight (and then some!)  I have had bad knees since high school, so running has been difficult for me.  But I can walk for days, and Leslie’s programs provide a well-balanced workout that is easy on the joints.  Now don’t think that just because you are walking that you aren’t burning calories.  I consider myself to have a pretty strong cardiovascular system, but her walking workouts can be really challenging for even seasoned walkers.  Give these a try if you are looking for a new aerobic workout to add to your daily exercise routine.

These blue Ball Jar Heritage Collectionare so beautiful.  One of my goals this year is to both plant a new garden and learn how to can the harvest.  I grew up around my family who are great canners, but I’ve never attempted it myself.  These jarsare so pretty.  They are a throwback to the Ball jars of days gone by.  If you can get your hands on a set, you’ll be a happy camper.

What are some things that make your life a little brighter?
