My Goals for 2014



For us, 2013 was a pretty good year.  I got some of my goals accomplished, but I really think I overdid my goal-setting last year.

I did accomplish a few of my big goals for 2013.  For example, this past year I was able to put in my garden.  That in itself was huge.  Even though it didn't produce as much as I'd hoped, I learned so much by doing it.  Because I accomplished that goal, I will be prepared this year when it's time to start up the garden once again.

I've decided this year that I am not going to make any excuses.  I've wasted too much time putting things off because I thought I had something more important to do. It's time for prioritizing my daily activities instead of trying to check too many things off of a to-do list.

Overall, my goal is to be more organized and efficient.  I feel I'm fairly organized, but I could always be better.

In my quest to become more organized, I plan to be more present as a busy mom of three.  I often find myself just trying to get from one moment to the next.  I love being a mother more than anything-- I wouldn't trade being a mom for anything in the world.  My goal is to enjoy the little things.  Even on the days that I want to pull my hair out, I will find something to celebrate.

Being more present, efficient, and organized are my overall goals, but here is a more specific breakdown of things I hope to accomplish in 2014:

Household Goals:

* Expand the garden.  Order seeds early and start them indoors to be ready for spring planting.

*  Get all the closets cleaned out and organized (we have lived in our current home for 1 1/2 years, and the closets are still not organized-- things were just stuck in there to be dealt with later.)

*  De-clutter on a weekly basis.  

*  Develop a weekly meal plan and stick to it as often as possible.

*  Do a freezer-meal cooking session and a baking day at least twice a  month.

*  Stick to a laundry schedule.

Personal Goals:

*  Read through the Bible in a year-- I started this last year but didn't quite finish. I'm starting again with the New Testament first.

Stay on a fitness program-- including weight training and running.  Run at least one 5k.

*  Be more present each and every day-- both with my children and in my marriage.

Mothering/Family Goals:

*  Start chapter books with David.

*  Read to all three children every  night.

* Do at least one activity as a family every week.

*  Reinforce the children's weekly Bible study throughout the week.

*  Develop a chore chart for the children.


Blog/Business Goals:

* Re-design the blog-- focus and layout.

*  Stick to office hours.

*  Adopt a system of organization for the blog, posts, social media, etc.

* Write at least 15 pieces of content each month.

*  Write regular pieces for other projects as well as guest posting.

*  Add to Pinterest, Facebook, and Twitter three to four times a day.
