Pizza Sauce
Many years ago, I began making pizza from scratch. I started making it even before I had children. For the longest time, I could not find a suitable pizza sauce. I bought every kind you can imagine. None of them were very good. I tried dozens of recipes that were either too complicated or required ingredients I didn’t have. Finally, I stumbled on the idea of just jazzing up some tomato paste.
That was the day my pizza sauce problems were over. This sauce is easy, tasty, and goes with any pizza topping. I also use it as a base for my marinara sauce when I make pasta. It has the approval of my husband, who is a pizza fanatic, as well as my kids. I can put this pizza sauce on anything and they will devour it.
Ingredients
1 can tomato paste, plus one can of water
2 tablespoons of Parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon of garlic powder
2 teaspoons of onion powder
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon dried parsley
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon salt
In a small bowl, combine the tomato paste and the water. Be sure to mix this up very well. Add in the cheese and stir. Add the rest of the ingredients one at a time, stirring well after each.
That’s it. Now, you can make any modification you would like. You can add more or less salt, you can leave out certain herbs, or if you like a sweeter sauce, you can add a bit of sugar. If you plan to add sugar, I would add it a little at a time and taste to make sure it isn’t too sweet.
I use this as dipping sauce for breadsticks, on tortilla pizzas, and in spaghetti sauce. It is so good and easy. You’ll never buy pizza sauce again!
