How To Freeze Apples

Have some apples hanging around that are starting to look a little sad?

Don’t throw those out! Freeze them. Frozen apples are perfect for so many things. Applesauce is a favorite in our house, but I also use them for apple pie, apple crisp, apple dumplings, apple pork chops, and, well you get the idea.

So, are you ready to freeze your past-their-prime apples? Here’s how you do it:

1. Wash, peel, and core your apples.

2. Chop them into large slices.

3. Place them into a bowl of cold water.

4. Add the juice of a lemon and stir.

5. Let them soak for about five minutes.

6. Drain and let them dry a bit on a clean towel.

7. Bag them up, date them, and stick them in the freezer.

Don’t be alarmed if they look a little brown once they are frozen. They still taste fantastic in recipes.

That was easy as pie. Now there’s never another excuse to waste apples. Well, unless they’ve gone completely rotten. I can’t help with that one!

Now go make some apple pie!
